is approximately 20%. Mortality and morbidity can be significantly reduced by implementing a set of interdependent, scientifically grounded steps in all patients requiring a central line.
The main CLABSI intervention measure is the central line-associated blood stream infection rate per 1000 central line days.

There are key differences in the process of the Best Care Always campaign and the measures for the interventions are simplified for phase I.
As stated in the IHI and SHN campaigns, the “Getting Started” kits are based on the current state of knowledge. Consistent with the dynamic nature of this campaign, which continues to evolve, emerging evidence may influence adaptation of the kits in the future. The kits are reviewed and updated as indicated.
